The day of your pet's procedure often contains a lot of information and emotions. Review the basic information below, as it contains the most pertinent information you will need on the day of surgery.
Dog Care
1) Please stay in your vehicle when you arrive at 8am. Avoid a late fee by arriving before 8:30am!
No need to call when you arrive, we will come to you.
2) Ensure your pet is not able to lick their incision (use a cone collar, surgical suit, donut collar, etc.). We have traditional, plastic cones at the clinic for an additional charge. The cone needs to come at least 2 inches past the snout to be effective!
3) Over-activity can lead to post-surgical complications.
Short, leashed-walks only and no free play for 10 days after surgery.
4) Overactivity can be calmed with a medication called Trazodone. As it is not part of our normal surgery package, let us know at drop-off if you would like to go home with it for an additional charge.
5) Do not bathe your dog for 10 days after surgery.
6) Pro-tip: Take a picture of the incision the night after surgery so you have a reference point later.
